Do you have ideas on bringing your community together, or do you want to help your neighbours get to know each other, address safety concerns, or build your capacity and skills? The Community Development (CD) team is here to work with you!

In 2024, the CD team worked with tenants to review and update how we work together. Based on your feedback:

  • The large DBC meetings will be replaced with smaller, more frequent on-demand training and skills-building opportunities. Bystander Intervention training, food handling courses, and mental health first aid training are but a few examples of the training and information sessions we can help organize.
  • The Community Capital Fund (CCF), which helps communities get resources to bring community members together (including supplies to create community kitchens, park benches and other improvements to shared spaces where people can gather in the community and more), has been simplified and the paperwork to submit an idea greatly reduced. Requests will go through your Community Developer and can be submitted throughout the year.

This year we will continue to support neighbourhood gatherings and cultural celebrations as we always have. Chinese New Year, Eid, Christmas – there is so much to celebrate and be thankful for. Join us as we support the creation of conditions to build safe, healthy and inclusive communities with you, our partners and colleagues by celebrating diversity, fostering a culture of inclusion and belonging.

We see a future where everyone—tenants, partners, and colleagues—works together to build a strong community.

To become involved with us in your community, please send us an email at info@och.ca with your name and address.  You can also call the OCH 24/7 Call Centre at 613-731-1182, and an agent will share your contact details with us.

We look forward to seeing you in the community!
