Artist Dan Martelock unveiled a vibrant new mural in collaboration with 11 youths from Operation Come Home, the OCH community at Marion Dewar Place, and Youth Services Bureau’s Young Men’s Shelter on Sept. 10.
“Through the murals, OCH engages tenants in meaningful conversations about their community and beautifies the urban landscape. We are so grateful for our partners who supported this project and are pleased to add this artwork to our portfolio,” said Stéphane Giguère, OCH’s Chief Executive Officer.
The City of Ottawa funded the mural, and the Centretown Community Health Centre led the project.
Marion Dewar Place is home to 181 tenants who provided their input on what the mural would look like. The artist held community meetings and posted two versions of the design in the laundry room so everyone could have a chance to have their say.
