“We are just trying to live here and make it a little bit easier for everybody.”

That is what Mark, one tenant volunteer shared in a video OCH put together to showcase the impact of volunteers in our community.

On April 20, over 100 tenants were invited to the Ottawa Art Gallery to celebrate National Volunteer Week. As part of the event, OCH screened a video featuring several volunteers and community activities.

Every year, tenants like Mark volunteer their time to create more inclusive neighbourhoods by organizing celebrations, programs, and beautification projects.

“If we can reach out to neighbours and build our community, it’s a win-win.” said Cathy from Clementine Towers, featured in the video.

Aside from enjoying lunch together, residents participated in an art workshop and explored the gallery.  Some tenants even displayed their artwork, you can check out pictures in the Tenant Corner.

Did you know?

OCH tenants help their neighbours by volunteering in several ways. In 2023, tenant volunteers supported 2,437 community events and 3,511 food security and health and wellness activities.
