Have you ever wondered about the right way to unplug a toilet? Or what should you do about a blocked sink?

OCH’s maintenance team was on hand to give information and demonstrations at the Tenant Talks Fair, held at the Ramsey Tenant Service Centre on September 4.  We hosted approximately 30 tenants from the Foster Farm community, Overbrook and Lowertown.

Members of the Integrated Pest Management team also had some information to share. They showed tenants what bed bugs look like and how to prevent them and answered general questions.

Greg, who handles landscape maintenance, showed residents how to sort garbage, recycle, and compost. Together, we can keep our communities clean and green.

Tenant Experience Coordinators were on hand to share information about Project Reclaim. This project supports tenants who risk losing their rent subsidies by helping them complete their taxes and provide the proper documents for their annual review.

Modifications

The maintenance team also shared some tips on changes to your home during the Tenant Talks Fair.

Did you know there are rules about changes you can make to your home? For example, you cannot change your basement without your Property Manager’s approval. There are also standards for air conditioning units, satellites, your balcony, your backyard and sheds. Do you want to know more? Visit www.och-lco.ca/i-am-a-tenant/your-tenancy/ and see the heading “making changes to your home.”

Asset Management shared information on preventing window condensation and fire life safety.

What is next?

We want to hear from you! What would you like to see from our Tenant Talks program? Is there an OCH service you’d like to know more about? Or, if you would like to give us feedback, email TenantTalks@och.ca.
